Years ago we went to a cabin near our hometown. We usually go there in winter, we know the owner, a nice lady with lots of cats. There was an old man there who had a dog. He was homeless, so we asked him to eat with us and we listened to his story. He wandered from town to town with his dog, but he was happy. He slept in the woods or wherever he could lay his head down. His eyes were shining and he was laughing.
He shared his food with the dog. He was big and black and his fur was shiny. He wouldn't take food from anyone else, nor come when called, but when his owner took even a few steps, he'd be right behind.
The man thanked us many times and bid us farewell. A few days later, we saw him in a neighbouring town, with his dog.
When I'm getting a dog, I'm going to give it the same name.
